Short version: We do not require accounts, we do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers, and calculator inputs are processed in your browser — not sent to our servers. The Return & Capital Dashboard stores purchase entries in your device's local storage only.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how Herminox ("we," "us," "our") handles information when you visit herminox.com and use our calculators, articles, and related content (the "Service"). It applies to all visitors regardless of location, subject to mandatory local laws that may grant you additional rights.
By using the Service, you acknowledge this Policy. If you disagree, please discontinue use.
2. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for this Service is Herminox, reachable at hello@herminox.com.
3. Information We Collect
We collect very little information by design.
3.1 Information you provide voluntarily
If you email us at hello@herminox.com or security@herminox.com, we receive the content of your message, your email address, and any information you choose to include. We use this solely to respond to your inquiry.
We do not offer user accounts, newsletters, or contact forms embedded in calculator pages.
3.2 Automatically collected information (hosting logs)
Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log technical data when you request a page, such as:
- IP address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referring URL
- Date and time of request
- Pages requested and HTTP status codes
We do not use these logs to build user profiles, retarget visitors, or sell data. Logs are retained by our host for operational and security purposes (typically days to weeks) and are not linked to calculator inputs.
4. Information We Do Not Collect
We deliberately do not collect or transmit:
- Calculator inputs (prices, costs, weights, margins, ad budgets, etc.) — these are processed locally in your browser.
- Amazon account credentials, ASINs tied to your identity, or Seller Central session data.
- Payment information — the Service is free and has no checkout.
- Precise geolocation from your device.
- Advertising identifiers or cross-site tracking profiles.
We do not deploy Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Hotjar, or similar third-party analytics or advertising scripts.
5. Local Storage (Return & Capital Dashboard)
The Return & Capital Dashboard is the one tool that persists data beyond a single page session. It stores your purchase entries (item name, retailer, purchase date, price, and related fields you enter) in your browser's localStorage under a Herminox-specific key.
Important facts about this storage:
- Local only — data never leaves your device unless you export it or your browser syncs localStorage across devices via your own browser account (e.g., Chrome Sync), which is outside our control.
- No server sync — we cannot read, restore, or delete your dashboard entries remotely.
- You control deletion — remove entries in the tool, clear site data in your browser settings, or use private browsing if you do not want persistence.
- Export — the dashboard may offer export functionality (e.g., calendar files) that you initiate; those files are generated on your device.
6. How Calculators Process Data
All Herminox calculators (FBA Profit, ACoS Breakeven, Inventory Breakeven, Unit Price, Cost Per Use, and Return Dashboard calculations) execute JavaScript in your browser. When you type a number and see a result, that computation happens on your device. We do not receive a copy of those numbers through our application code.
Network requests triggered by normal use are limited to:
- Loading HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images, and fonts from our domain (and Google Fonts — see below).
- Standard hosting/CDN delivery of static assets.
Our Content Security Policy restricts scripts and connections to approved origins. See our security headers configuration for deployed environments.
7. Third-Party Services
7.1 Google Fonts
We load typography from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. When your browser fetches font files, Google may receive your IP address and technical request metadata. We use display=optional to minimize performance impact. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
If you prefer to block Google Fonts, browser extensions or network filters can do so; the site remains functional with system font fallbacks.
7.2 Hosting and CDN
The Site is served from static hosting infrastructure (e.g., Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, or similar). These providers process request metadata to deliver files and protect against abuse. Their privacy policies apply to infrastructure-level processing.
7.3 External links
Our editorial content links to Amazon fee documentation, retailer policy pages, and other third-party sites. Those sites have their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for their data handling.
8. Hosting and Server Logs
Server logs may be used to diagnose outages, detect abuse (e.g., DDoS patterns), and measure aggregate traffic volume. We do not combine server logs with calculator inputs because we do not possess the latter.
9. Cookies
Herminox does not set first-party cookies for tracking, authentication, or advertising. Our hosting provider or CDN may set strictly necessary technical cookies for load balancing or security (e.g., bot mitigation). The Return Dashboard uses localStorage, which is not a cookie but serves a similar local persistence function — see Section 5.
You can manage cookies and site storage through your browser settings.
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has contacted us with personal information, email hello@herminox.com and we will delete it.
11. Data Retention
- Email correspondence — retained as long as needed to resolve your inquiry, then deleted or archived in ordinary course.
- Server logs — retained per our host's default rotation schedule.
- localStorage (Return Dashboard) — retained on your device until you delete it.
- Calculator session data — not retained by us; cleared when you close the tab (except Return Dashboard entries you saved locally).
12. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EU/EEA under GDPR, the UK under UK GDPR, and California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data we hold about you.
Because we collect minimal personal data, many requests will be straightforward:
- Calculator inputs — we do not have them; nothing to access or delete on our side.
- Return Dashboard data — delete locally in your browser; we cannot delete it remotely.
- Email you sent us — request deletion at hello@herminox.com.
We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law. We do not discriminate against users who exercise privacy rights.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a "limit" opt-out.
13. International Visitors
Herminox is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, your information may be processed in the US and other countries where our hosting providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to such transfer to the extent permitted by law.
14. Security
We protect the static Site with HTTPS, security headers (Content Security Policy, HSTS, frame denial, etc.), and a minimal attack surface — no user database, no server-side form handlers, no third-party script tags. Report vulnerabilities to security@herminox.com or via our security.txt.
No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of hosting logs or email correspondence.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when our practices or legal requirements change. We will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes may be highlighted on the Site. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
